TEACHER FAQ

What is the process of becoming a Level Up teacher?

If you are interested in joining our community of teachers please apply using the form below. While each application is carefully reviewed by our team, at a minimum we require all Level Up teachers to have experience in their field or own their own business in which they are experts. Once your application to become a teacher is approved, you will receive a welcome email with the next steps for your journey.

We’ve tailored our platform so you can self-onboard at your own pace but we are also here to provide support every step of the way! You may choose to join one of our group or individual onboarding sessions with our Teacher Support team to introduce you to our platform. You will have the ability to create your own profile, set up payout information, begin to move through the class listing submission process, and lastly, to add class dates to your rosters, whether they are live online or you are in one of our approved cities teaching in person and in your own brick and mortar or using one of our Host Partners to host you.  

 

What is the structure for  Level Up Classes?

You can choose to teach :

  • Live-Online 

Live-Online courses are taught live via Zoom. Typically a live-online class ranges from 45-90 minutes depending on the subject and is structured with Q&A to encourage learner participation and feedback for the participants. Class size is determined by the teacher and can range from 1 to 50. While there can be pre-recorded aspects as part of the Zoom share, you will be live presenting for a more direct, interactive experience.

  • In-Person 

In-Person courses are pop-up style events hosted at your own brick and mortar location or one of our approved Host Partners venues in select cities (if your city isn’t on this list don’t worry you can suggest your city here!). Typically our In-Person classes range from 1.5 - 2.5 hours depending on the subject and are structured with Q&A to encourage learner participation and feedback for the participants.  Class size is determined by the teacher but we do have a cap at 25 people.  

 

What if I want to teach in person but don’t have a place of my own or access to a venue?

Most in-person classes are hosted by Host Partners -  collaborating venues who support our mission  (be sure to hyperlink this to the mission page) and offer teachers a pre-negotiated rental rate some of them even offer the spaces free of charge!  Once your teacher profile is approved, you will have access to our Host Partner roster in your city directly from your teacher dashboard so you can coordinate a date and get your class listed!

 

What is the process of adding a class?

We have made adding a class listing process a breeze! From a self-led prompted process with lots of examples and a resource center to help you get the very best descriptions, imagery, and pricing for your class.  Once your class is submitted, our team will review your listing to ensure you have clearly defined high-value learning objectives, and make any recommendations or necessary edits to make sure your class is ready for our audience and tickets sell.

 

What is the pay structure for teachers?

As a teacher, you will enter our platform at one of two levels: Verified or Master. 

  • Verified Teachers:  Most teachers begin as Verified Teachers unless you have received an invitation directly for the Level Up team to come in at the Master status. For Verified status, the pay structure is 70/30% split. This means you will receive  70% of all ticket sales for your course and Level up will receive a  30% service fee. Remember, you control ticket pricing, and the number of students allowed in class, we even built out a pricing calculator right on the teacher dashboard to help you calculate your take-home amount! 

  • Master Teacher: There are two ways to become a Master! You are either invited in as a Master Teacher or you reach the milestones to become one. Master status gives you the pay rate of an 80/20% split. You will make 80% of your sales and a 20% service fee goes to Level Up. remember, you control ticket pricing, and the number of students allowed in class, we even built out a pricing calculator right on the teacher dashboard to help you calculate your take-home amount!  You must maintain milestones to keep your Master Teacher status. 

 

How are level up teachers paid?

Teachers are paid through Paypal (Goods and Services) which is synced with our platform. Each pay period, you will be paid the appropriate percentage for all class ticket sales that took place within that pay period.  Our pay periods are the 1st and 15th of every month. The cut off for a class is 24 hours prior to the pay period, so 1st through the 14th is paid out on the 15th and 15th through the end of the month is paid out on the 1st. 

 

How do I become a Level Up Bright teacher? 

Level Up Bright is our subscription platform designed to deliver burst-learning content straight to your phone.  We are currently in the process of completing our first batch of courses and will begin beta testing in the summer of 2020. At this time, we are commissioning specific subject matter experts and curriculum that is then prepared and professionally produced but we are prioritizing the teachers in our roster for sourcing!
