Memoir & Mimosas
ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Hi! I'm Minda Honey. I'm a writing professor, relationship advice columnist, and nationally published writer. You may have read my articles, essays or short memoir pieces on Teen Vogue, Vice, Playboy, the Oxford American, Longreads, The Los Angeles Review of Books, The Guardian, The Washington Post or elsewhere. I've been teaching creative writing at the college level and in the community for more than 5 years. I specialize in creating a safe, comfortable space for getting vulnerable on the page.
ABOUT THE CLASS:
In this class we'll cover the basics of writing memoir. I'll share examples of what good memoir writing looks like and we'll discuss what memoir writing is and isn't. I'll give you some writing tips for getting started and improving your own writing and then we'll end class with a writing exercise –– Plus, there'll be mimosas, cozy couches and plenty of natural light at the women-owned Trouble Bar in Shelby Park.
MATERIALS STUDENTS WILL USE IN CLASS: Mimosas and handouts will be provided. Please bring a notebook for taking notes.
AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT CLASS: Writers will have the opportunity to schedule a private one-on-one feedback session with Minda.
Minimum age requirement: 21+
Just a way to take notes.
